• What is the X1 Series, and how does it differ?

  The X1 Series canopy is L&G Chivalry’s best-value and best-selling range, designed to deliver strength and practicality at a lower cost. It’s built from marine-grade 5052 aluminium in 2.5 mm or 3 mm flat or checker plates, offering reliable durability for everyday use without the added expense of heavier premium builds. The X1 focuses on essential features such as secure whale-tail locks, recessed doors and solid internal reinforcement.

• What locking system is used?

  Every X1 canopy is fitted with whale-tail compression locks, a proven system that applies firm pressure when closed to improve both security and sealing. These locks are designed to resist tampering while keeping out dust and water, protecting the contents of your canopy in tough conditions.

• What customisation options are available?

  Our X1 canopy range is available in a wide variety of customisation options. Lengths range from 600 mm to 2400 mm, giving you options from compact tool storage to full-length touring setups. Styles include standard, jack-off, dog box and half dog box designs, with drawer options also available in certain models. For materials, you can select checker plate aluminium for toughness and slip resistance or flat plate for a sleek, weather-resistant finish, with 3.0 mm marine-grade flat plate available for heavier-duty requirements. Finishes include raw aluminium or powder-coated black.

• How do I pick the right size?

  Choosing the right X1 canopy size depends on your ute model, load requirements and how you plan to use the vehicle. Smaller lengths, such as 600 mm to 1200 mm, are suited to compact storage needs, like carrying hand tools or keeping key equipment secure. Mid-range sizes provide a balance of storage and vehicle manoeuvrability, while larger options up to 2400 mm are ideal for tradies carrying bulky gear or for touring setups that require more space.

• Why choose X1 over X3?

  The X1 canopy is the right choice if you want a cost-effective yet rugged solution that delivers core functionality without unnecessary extras. Built from 2.5 mm to 3 mm marine-grade aluminium, the X1 canopy provides reliable strength and security for everyday use, backed by whale-tail locks and reinforced construction. Compared to the X3, the X1 does not include the premium modular uni-strut skeleton or thicker 3mm to 5 mm plates, but it remains our most popular and best-selling option, balancing affordability with proven welding quality and trusted durability.

• Can a ute canopy be claimed on tax?

  In some cases, a ute canopy may be claimed as a tax deduction if it is directly related to earning your income and meets ATO requirements. If your ute and canopy are used for both work and personal activities, only the work-related portion may be claimable.
